When Thompson gets killed by a remote-detonated explosive device in the capital city Baghdad he is replaced by the young and reckless William James. He is very good at dismantling bombs, but he seeks danger too often. And that, according to Sanborn is not the right option if you want to survive. Every day the three men are confronted with the most diverse things: horror, courage, sorrow, pain, etc. When James finally goes home, he wants only one thing: as soon as possible return to perhaps the only place where he can function.
